Job description:
• Performs forensic examinations according to established protocols
• Participates in clinical supervision and staff education peer review
• Conducts regular case review of all newly created patient records
• Participates in recruiting, interviewing, hiring and training new forensic examiners
• Coordinates 24/7 call schedule for volunteer pool of forensic medical examiners
• Maintains statistical data
• Ensures that nurse examiner hospital credentialing is current
• Provides presentations to the community regarding the program
• Provides backup on-call support to the program
• Assumes managerial responsibilities for the NACASA clinical program
• Communicates and interacts with the various systems involved with this program, i.e. forensic laboratories, law enforcement, prosecutors, hospitals

Job Requirements


Education, training, experience:
• SANE-A certified, or the ability to become certified within six months
• Current R.N. licensed in the State of Arizona
• Working knowledge of all OSHA safety and health standards relevant to the position and job duties
• 2000 hours of prior nursing experience is preferred
• Prior experience with sexual assault and domestic violence victims
• Demonstrated competence in physical assessment, including pelvic examinations
• Documentation of specialty training in sexual examination techniques as outlined in approved protocol
• Ability to communicate with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds
• Demonstrated leadership ability

• Exhibits good judgment, ability to respond to appropriate “in crisis” situations, integrity and empathy
• Independently mobile; must have access to reliable transportation in order to meet the needs of the association
• Requires concentrated, complex and variable mental efforts, with emphasis on synthesis of information, written and oral communication
• Awareness of occupational exposure to blood and bodily fluids
• Updated Hepatitis B vaccination
• Current CPR certification
• Current PPD status testing
• Current Rubella vaccination
